John Heinz Refuge

John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum is part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Wildlife Refuge System, a network of lands set aside for the benefit of native wildlife and plants. Established in 1972 through local activism, the refuge protects habitat for the benefit of both people and wildlife.

My goal with this project was to capture the Refuge's sensitivity and peacefulness that stays true to the recognizable presence of the brand. I believe that a stencil/stamp-like mark was what I wanted, but it had to be distinctly simplistic. After extensive review, two complementary bold sans serifs were finally chosen and the logo was born!
